Intriguing Designs
Creative Concepts
and a Quirky Output

I'm a blunt, straight forward, get to the point kind of person. That being said, here are the basics. I'm a designer at heart. I eat, sleep, inhale, exhale and bleed design. Ok so maybe not bleed but you get the idea. Of course I'm not a one trick pony, tis the beauty of the skill set I bring to the table. Not only can I make things look pretty and visually appealing, I can actually make them work too!

Done.

The Project has been designed, and developed but there is still more to be done. It must be groomed over, top to bottom to ensure that the deliverable are worth delivering.

Develop.

To develop effectively, one must speak the technical lanuages needed to accomplish the project. There is a good chance you will be collaborating so play nice.

Design.

The word itself is full of possibilites, centered on its ability to mean several different things. Design is a process. To design something is to do, act, create.

Galileo | Study the Stars

HTML | CSS | jQuery
jQuery was used to develop this site. It was my first experience with jQuery. The hardest challenge I faced was prior to this experience I had been designing and developing static html and css sites. Creating a layout and a design for a site that moved was something I had to truly think about and plan ahead for. This is an informational site about the stars.

Waterways of Venice

HTML | CSS
While this isn't the prettiest of sites, the technical skill behind it comes in very handy. This type of site is known as a Liquid Site. Designing a layout that would fit with the scaling of the site proved to be a challenge but alas, I prevailed.

Prattle Babble

HTML | CSS | PHP
Welcome to Prattle Babble. This is an online diary of sorts. My first project designed and developed using php. The functionality behind the project is to allow a user to register, log in and post the inner most workings of their brains, or whatever else comes to mind. Entries are private and can only be seen by the user once they have logged in.

Posh Paint

HTML | CSS | Flash | Branding | Print Production
Posh Paint was my first encounter with "branding". While I understood the concepts, this was taking branding one set further. There is a brochure that accompanies the site, as well as a flash piece that allows the user to "paint" a to better see the color choices.

myNon-Profit.Org

HTML | CSS | jQuery | PHP
myNon-Profit.Org is a site dedicated to non-profit organizations that need websites but do not have the funds to produce them. This website allows the organization to register and create and account. When they create that account it creates a webpage for them, that they can update through a control panel. The user is also allowed to choose which design they want to use.

Promotional Video

After Effects | Illustrator
This video was created to better help brand myself. This was my first time using after effects. I used the Sure Target tool from Video CoPilot.

Mobile Site

HTML | CSS | jQuery
I decided to create a mobile site to go with my porfolio site. Its rather simple and just has some basic information on it. There is a sticker that was given out that has a qr code that when scaned takes you to this site.

Posh Paint

Indesign | Illustrator | Photoshop
The purpose behind the posh paint site was to create a brand identity. Through this brand, we were to portray both the web side of marketing as well as the print side. For the print side the challenge was to design a brochure that could be used as a company hand out. This was my first time designing for print. The biggest struggle I had involved understanding print colors and production. Through this opportunity I now better understand more about print design.

Habitat for Humanity

Indesign | Illustrator | Photoshop
This newsletter was actually something that was printed and sent to the public. Most of the work I did for Habitat for Humanity was print work. I have done posters and flyers, as well as a magazine ad that was printed in a business journal. The logo for this newsletter needed to be redesigned so they allowed me to do so.

L'Artisan Lily

Illustrator | Photoshop
After my internship at The Mouse Artist, I learned alot about print production as well as the many different types of business card papers and textures. For my business cards I choose a matte 16pt finish because I wanted that particular paper texture to match the things I was using for the Portfolio Show.

Design. Develop. Done.

Illustrator | Photoshop
To better brand myself, I created 3 different flyers that established my skills in each of the areas I am proficent in. Design. Develop. Done. is also my slogan, I wanted people to better understand exactly what that meant.

Magnets

Illustrator
As part of the giveaways for portfolio show, I design magnets. These illustrate the services that I provide and a place to check out my body of work.

WritersINK

Photoshop
This was my first logo design. The company was an online magazine that was dedicated to writers. Since it was a company, I thought of the play on words with inc, and INK for writers. Then took the quill and played around with several different design ideas.

Posh Paint

Photoshop
Posh Paint was a chance to experience branding, from top to bottom. For this project the brand had to go into everything. The wording, colors, images all these aspects had to present the images of Posh Paint, a green echo friendly company geared toward the more fashion forward person.

Habitat for Humanity

Illustrator
This was a newsletter that was printed and sent out to the public. When asked to layout the content and create an interesting design, I mentioned the possibility of a logo redesign. They loved the idea and I was able to create a more visually pleasing concept for them.

I had to brand myself. Of course I have been thinking of a way to brand myself for the past 5 years, and what designer doesn't go through many changes. This one however is by far my favorite. I choose a type face that looked like my hand writing, and the color purple because it best speaks to me. The idea to use just my first name and alot of white space was to draw attention and have me stand out from the crowd, and the slogan Design.Develop.Done. is how I work when tackling a project.

I'm a Quirky Person

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”
~ Dr. Seuss

Well what can I say; I'm a recent college graduate, with a degree in something that I truly love doing; Web Design. I fell in love with the web design and development world when I was a senior in high school. I believe that web is a necessary tool in a marketing strategy. We are in the age where knowledge is power, and the fastest way to get knowledge is through the web.

When I don’t have my head buried in design blogs, you can find me exploring the world around me. I love to take drives to new exciting areas, taking pictures, and venturing out with my friends. Also I have a thing for cupcakes; thankfully I live in a city full of cup cakeries!
