Ode to Family Funage
Rebecca Lee
We all just sit there staring,
none of us actually caring,
about this Monopoly board game
we are trying to play, it's really quite lame.
My family is broken
my mother is out spoken
and my father is shutting us away.
Yet my mother still wants him to stay.
Family time is something we now must spend,
even though there is no family here to mend.
Just people living in this one simple house,
and one father or a not so loving spouse.
We all pretend that our worlds are fine,
but in reality they are all lost, espcially mine.
This perfect face with the prilliant smile
hiding all the hurt and pain with her wonderful guile.
My mother makes us go to her shrink,
and he tries to get us to think,
about what we can do to assist,
but the thing is that I'm pissed.
This so called shrink knows nothing more,
than a mouse and is a complete and total bore.
When I answer his ridiculous question,
he would love nothing more than to end the session.
The whole situation is numb to me,
no one can seem to agree,
how to fix was is already broken.
The fact that the word "divorce was spoken
made us really truly see
that we were simply not meant to be.
All we can do is sit here staring,
No one actually caring.
Broken and Dysfunctional.
