Poetry Prompt

Write a poem centered around Goodbyes. Let the emotion show through, with out being too cliche.

Final Days
Brandi Leberman

Happiness
Glides, on four wheels.
Sunglasses
cover the eyes that dream,
arms
open wide;
he engulfs my body.
His warm chest
against Mine.
Heat flows
between the bodies
reconnected
after longing,

A full day of reunion,
Cut Short
by relatives abroad,
Dreams of lust
shattered.
The white Knight
retreats.

The black car
vanishes
Left behind
I weep.
Never again to see
that smile
upon his face.
Never again to hear
our laughs
of the good times.

The cold hits me;
breathing stops.

After many weeks,
of warmth
and LOVE,
while sleeping
together
while apart.

Blinding,
my heart splits
in two
Planes fly away
to war, guns, death:
an unforgiving
land,
taking with it,
my soul
My Love.

The pain rushes in,
Blood pours down.
Dripping from my eyes
into the hole
that held
my once
Whole
Life.

The roar of the wind,
the breeze of the leaves rustling.
Dances in between my silence
and the trees.
The sun sets behind the moutain,
And with it,
Takes my happiness,
leaving me defensless,
against
The Loneliness
Of Time.

He is gone.
