I've been working at WritersINK for about a month now, and the thing is that I love it. No I'm not just saying that because I'm blogging for the people that employ me but because its the truth. Its true I'm an intern, and that I lucked out when the magazine came up with the brillant idea that the readers wanted to know the minds of other writers. So they choose me, it was a big day, a promotion really because instead of just proof reading articles before they go to the copy editors, and getting coffee I actually get to write, even if its my own personal thoughts. They choose people based on what they wrote about, we were to write a diary entry that any and everyone would want to read, and it wasn't something we made up but how we portrayed our life, and how we structured our thoughts. Apparently the smart sassy way (their words not mine) way I speak within my head makes for a very compelling read. Who knew!
So being a working girl is cool, I mean the staff here is really nice, they all seem to be pretty young, I mean the founders themselves are only about 25! I couldn't even image coming up with the idea, ok so I could come up with the idea, everyone is full of ideas but what makes a person special is what they do with those ideas. I just write mine down, or I use them for my characters. They get to be the ones that fullfill the biggest most extravagant dreams, that I wish I could do. No Katie and Linda, they had a dream and they fought for it, made it happen. I'm pretty sure that given the time I will acomplish my dreams but I won't do them near as fast as Katie.
So being an Intern is crazy. I actually have a desk that part is cool, and that every friday we have happy hour, in the office to celebrate making it through another week. Well this week was a little hectic, we just hired a new designer, Katie and Linda decided they wanted a new look and feel to the site, something more artistic and less formal one could say. I'm hoping that its going to look really cool, its supposed to be up and running before Christmas. Speaking of which I should get a start on my Christmas shopping. At least I can do that at work, amazon is my best friend.

Well they just announced the winners of the blogging competition. The one that was held in office and well obviously if I'm writing to you, then guess what? I WON! It was pretty exciting. The team was looking for someone to blog about the workings and what goes on inside the office, well they said it shouldn't be something that was forced, should flow naturally. They wanted someone who actually like dishing on all the inside stuff of WritersINK, so while most people actually wrote reports and what not I just wrote from the heart, and in the voice I would naturally write in. So being hired as the instaff blogger, I also get to surf the net and read other peoples blogs to find the blogger of the month. This is a huge promotion for me. I'm only and intern and Michelle said they had reservations at first since I've only been here for not even a month, but that the talent was there. Or the voice they said.
So I surf the net and find people's blogs that interest me. They don't neccesarily have to be about writing themselves but if someone has a good idea or point behind something or the way they describe something is especailly good then I'll choose them. Be sure to look for the blogger of the month on the left hand side of the site, it will be posted there with their information and a link to that person's blog. Well better start surfing!
